Dental Bridges at BIDC Thailand Dental Center

Dental bridges are composed of at least 2 crown units used to replace missing gaps in teeth. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or by dental implants. A bridge is supported by anchoring teeth called abutment teeth and false tooth/teeth that replaces the missing gap called pontic teeth.

Dental bridges can be made of porcelain, metal (a gold and/or other metal alloy), or a combination of both.

Advantages of Dental Bridges

  • dental bridges can restore your smile
  • dental bridges restore your ability to properly chew and speak by replacing missing gap in teeth
  • dental bridges prevent surrouding teeth to missing gap from drifting out of position
  • dental bridges helps distribute the biting forces in your bite properly

Types of Dental Bridges

Traditional bridges involve creating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth, with a pontic in between. Traditional bridges are the most common type of bridge and are made of either porcelain fused to metal or ceramics.

Maryland bridges, are also commonly called called a resin-bonded bridge or a Maryland bonded bridge, are normally made of plastic teeth and gums supported by a metal framework. Metal wings on each side of the bridge are bonded to existing teeth.

Cantilever bridges are used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth. Cantilever bridges are not as commonly done due to loading pressure on existing supporting abutment tooth. For instances whereby there is missing gaps without 2 adjacent supporting abutment teeth, dental implants or partial dentures are alternative recommended treatment options in replacing mis
